Building a Fire Part III: A Church on Fire Shares and Cares for One Another

A fire grows when the embers stay together. If you separate the coals, they cool down. The early church understood this—they weren’t just a crowd of believers; they were a family.

Acts 2:44-45 tells us, “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” Their faith wasn’t just about personal growth, it was about caring for others.

In our individualistic culture, it’s easy to focus on personal faith while neglecting the needs of others. But a church on fire shares life together, serves one another, and meets real needs.

Let’s be real, life is better when we have people to walk through it with us. Have you ever tried to move a couch by yourself? Sure, you might get one end lifted, but at some point, you’re either calling for help or making peace with the fact that the couch now lives there permanently. The same is true for our faith—we weren’t meant to carry everything alone.

God designed the church to be a place where we share burdens, celebrate victories, and occasionally help each other move a ridiculously heavy piece of furniture. A church on fire doesn’t just shake hands on Sunday morning, it’s a community where people show up for one another in real, tangible ways.

How Can We Apply This?

  1. As Individuals: Look for ways to serve someone this week bring a meal, send an encouraging note, or meet a financial need. Small acts of kindness fuel the fire. 🔥
  2. As a Church: Create a culture of care through small groups, outreach ministries, and practical ways to support each other. Don’t assume people are fine; ask, listen, and respond. 🔥
  3. Together: Build deeper relationships by spending time with people beyond Sunday mornings. A thriving church is one where people truly know and care for one another. 🔥

A fire needs more than just one ember, it needs a community of glowing coals to burn bright. So, let’s stay close, share the warmth, and keep the fire going strong!
